Sleepover
Nominated for Best Short Film – Fiction at the 2017 Goya Awards, Sleepover is a short film directed by Susana Casares (2013 Winner ATAS Emmy® College Television Award in Drama). The Spanish Film Festival in Australia is delighted to be showcasing this acclaimed short film alongside screenings of humanitarian documentary Sasha. Afraid of losing her friends, Silvia (10) invites them along to a sleepover. But Silvia’s home is not like the other children’s homes, her family has been secretly living in their old VW camper since they lost their house to foreclosure.
Unable to cancel the invitation, Silvia’s parents attempt to save the night by parking the VW in the driveway of their old home and telling the kids they’re having a “camping” themed sleepover. The cover works well, until one of the girls asks for something the parents hadn’t thought of: she needs to go inside the house to use the bathroom.
Sleepover will screen before all sessions of Sasha.
